Asiatopia
Asiatopia is an international performance art festival founded in Bangkok in 1998 by Chumpon Apisuk and a collective of performance artists. It has since grown into one of Asia’s most prominent platforms for performance art, with strong international recognition. The festival’s name—blending “Asia” and the Greek word “Topia” (meaning “place”)—reflects its mission to create a space for Asian performance artists to explore, express, and assert their identities in the context of globalization. This archive documents projects and performances initiated or contributed to by Chumpon Apisuk between 1998 and 2016, during the formative years of the Asiatopia Performance Art Festival.
