About Website

This website was developed as part of the research project “Live Art and Lifeworlds of Chumpon Apisuk,” supported by the Contemporary Art Promotion Fund, Office of Contemporary Art and Culture, Ministry of Culture, and the Education Department of the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre. The primary aim of the project is to compile and create a publicly accessible archive of Chumpon Apisuk’s work.

Chumpon Apisuk is recognized as one of the pioneers of performance art in Thailand and Southeast Asia. Archiving his performance art and lifeworld is central to this project, which is dedicated to preserving and activating his legacy. For over 60 years, he used performance art as a tool to challenge society, create experimental spaces, and connect people across cultures and geographies.

In addition to the research database, the project has expanded into various initiatives, including “Chumpon Apisuk’s Lifeworld: An Archival Exhibition,” which traces his life and work through a chronological timeline within evolving social and cultural contexts; an Open Call: Performance Art Workshop with Chumpon Apisuk; and the board game “Art Action: The Performance Art World,” inviting players to explore performance art in a fun, accessible, and hands-on way.
