Tap Root Society

Established in Chiang Mai between 1988 and 1990, Chumpon and his peers founded the Tap Root Society as a temporary living space for visiting artists—similar to an artist residency program. It also served as a venue for presenting diverse art forms, including installation, music, song for life, folk songs, poetry, and performance art. The space can be considered one of Chiang Mai’s earliest independent art initiatives. One notable event was “Seuk Duean Phen” (Full Moon Battle), which opened the space to participation from student organizations and local Chiang Mai communities.
